Sonata for Bassoon and Piano (1989) in three movements

Published by Bocal Music through TrevcoVarnerMusic; Dur: 12:45

The sonata for bassoon and piano has enjoyed many performances and has been a staple in the studio repertoire of such esteemed bassoonists as Barrick Stees at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Bernard Garfield at Curtis Institute of Music, as well as many others. The late Sol Schoenbach also championed the work energetically.

The piece is interesting and at the same time accessible to a wide audience. The piano writing is challenging and requires an accomplished player.

The Sonata was recorded by the composer and pianist, Paul Hoffmann, and is still available on the Vienna Modern Masters label.

This work is available through TrevcoVarner Music, Bocal Music collection, www.trevcomusic.com, price: $18.00.
