Songs for Ginny (1985), for soprano and wind ensemble

Michael Haithcock, formerly the director of bands at Baylor University, where I used to teach, asked me to write a piece dedicated to his young daughter, Ginny. The piece would be settings of children’s nursery rhymes which she knew and liked. The result was this work for soprano soloist and orchestral wind section (small wind ensemble).
